When I think of a museum, I think of going somewhere to look at works of art. Museum, the band, got the idea right when they decided to use photographer Shuji Kobayashi (who's extraordinary work has appeared in several past issues of Outburn) for their album artwork.
Shuji has a knack for creating dark, disturbing, and mysterious images, so his artwork is a perfect accompaniment to the music of Museum.

With a name like Museum, you might think they are "art rock" or create experimental installation type soundscapes, but actually they're intense dark rock along the lines of Course of Empire. With deep and melodic vocals; guitars that swirl, crunch and scream; and upbeat percussion, as well as some quiet and introspective moments, Museum create an album filled with enjoyable songs that travel through a wide range of emotions.

Museum's unexpected claim to fame is that their guitarist, Toshi Yanagi, who was the in-house guitarist on the cancelled Martin Short Show. He's simply an outstanding guitarist who's dark side is brought out in the music of Museum-- which has absolutely nothing to do with comedy and a lot more to do with drama. And it's a good drama too, not that cheesy soap opera kind.
